Mpane, located 150km south-east of Bulawayo, suffered a devastating storm in late 2008, ripping off classroom block roofs, destroying school furniture and reducing textbooks to pulp.
The school has raised funds to begin to rebuild the classroom block roofs and has benefited from strong leadership from the headmaster, supported by the local community.
ZRSDP donated £16,000 to fund a new roof, desks, chairs, and books to replace everything that was destroyed in the storm. The work is now complete and the school looks smarter than ever!
The opening ceremony was held on Monday 2nd April 2012 and was attended by ZRSDP’s Chairman James Easen, journalists from the national newspaper, local MPs, the district and regional educational directors, local chiefs and the School Development Committee.
Thank you for helping us make such a difference to the community!
