We were incredibly lucky to have hosted a fantastic evening at the Liberal Club in Mayfair last October. With over 100 guests this event was held in aid of raising money for Mayezane primary school near Bulawayo in Zim which was on the brink of collapse. Netsai Mangwende (UK CFO of Willis Towers Watson) was our inspiration and driving force for organising the event. The event was hosted by WTW multicultural network.
It was a very memorable evening! Highlights included:
– Champagne reception in one of the club room
– An address from award winning Poet Inua Ellams. His first play ‘The 14th Tale’ was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival and his fourth ‘Barber Shop Chronicles’ sold out its run at The National Theatre.
– An outstanding auction run by world renowned former Christie’s auctioneer Hugh Edmeades. Hugh ran the auction for the Indian Premier league cricket earlier in 2019. So ZRSDP was a big step up for him :-).
– Live traditional Zimbabwean music provided by Otto and the Mutapa Calling.
We raised £30k from the evening and donations made from attendees/those not able to make it. So ZRSDP’s single biggest ever fundraiser!
Big thank you to Netsai, the team of organisers including Robert, Mercy, Meera Davda, Alois and Chiyedza; Michael Clarke from the WTW MCN; our prize donors and our very generous prize winners and table hosts.
